All through the Scriptures we are told of the value of rest. Indeed, even our salvation comes not through our own work but because of God--the God who never slumbers nor sleeps (Psalm 121), who has held the oceans in his hand (Isaiah 140), who has counted the hairs on every human head (Luke 12).
When was the last time you spent a quiet day with the Lord? Are you weary or heavy laden? Tired from all the noise and endless list of tasks? Come away and rest--turn off your devices, set down your work, and receive from the Lord and from others, just for a day. See how He will refresh you.
We’ll begin with a simple time of prayer and meditation on the Bible (led by Renee Clark from the Spiritual Formation Society of AZ). Then, you are free to commune with the Lord in the beautiful spaces at the Franciscan Renewal Center: walk the paths, pray in the chapel, talk with God, be still and silent, read, journal, or take a nap on a bench. The time is yours, and there is nothing to produce or accomplish. People will be available to pray with/for you, should you wish. Then, we’ll enjoy a nourishing lunch (in silence or conversation--your choice). We will end with a simple journaling exercise, reflection, and blessing.
All are welcome! Lunch and materials are included.
Cost: You are invited to pay what you can, with a suggested amount of $30 (actual cost per person is about $50). We want this experience to be accessible to everyone!
